Shelter is a song by Porter Robinson and Madeon that released in 2016. The song tells the story of a 17-year-old girl named Rin who is trapped in a virtual world that created by her father. She is trapped in that world is not for no reason, but because of the apocalypse of the world where she lived in when she was child.

At the beginning of the video clip, it is shown how Rin lived in the simulated world. She be able to change the environment as she pleases. It can be a vast expanse of grassland and even cliffs. She also can interact with the environment, just like what a fantasy world be.

But, she's just alone in that world. She's trapped in a beautiful loneliness. In the initial part is also shown a tablet carried by Rin, where the tablet is used to control the situation and environment of the simulated world.

And also, on the tablet is shown inbox messages, which there are no messages at all for 2539 days.

In the next parts, precisely after the 2578th day, when Rin was opening a drawing app on her tablet, suddenly a picture of the city appeared and that was immediately visualized in the simulated world.

After that it looks like Rin is looking into her past, where Rin as a child ran towards her father. After that it began to be shown about Rin's memories when she was a child. It shows Rin and her father having many valuable and beautifull memories, playing swings and playing sand.

There is also a photo of Rin's mother who most likely died when Rin was a child. In the next part is shown a news about the situation in Tokyo that looks arid because of apocalypse.

Next part is shown Rin's father who was designing the space capsule. It is shown again the memory of Rin and her father where on her birthday, Rin was given a tedybear as a gift.

And again, the news is shown about the apocalypse that is threatening the earth, a large meteor that will soon hit the earth. And even the most touching part begins. When Rin and her father holding hands with the background of a meteor about to hit the earth, which strangely looks beautiful.

Then the scene continues when Rin is inside the space capsule, along with tedybear dolls of her birthday presents. It appears that her father said goodbye to rin and the scene moved on rin who was drooping limp with various wires.

I think it's life-support cables while in the space capsule. It is also shown that Rin is shedding tears, which means Rin's emotional sense in the virtual world can still impact her physical body in the real world.

Then the flashback is finish, and looks Rin in an empty, dark space, but a message notification appears on her tablet. The message appeared to be an encouragement from her father that was sent automatically on a specific date.

And came a very touching dialogue, “I’am not alone, because of you.”

It represents the story of her father who despite not being by her side, but because all her father's hard work she was able to live to this day. And also, all their memories are also recorded and can be seen again by Rin.

“Those memories make me stronger.” being a words of encouragement that sound very touching.

And the video closes with a scene of Rin's space capsule in the darkness of outer space, lonely but beautiful with millions of shining stars.
